James Cameron has made some of the highest-grossing movies in history. Billie Eilish is one of the defining pop artists of her generation. Nobody saw this team-up coming — and somehow, it works.

Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) is a 2026 American 3D concert film co-directed by Eilish and Cameron. It was theatrically released by Paramount Pictures on May 8, 2026, and received positive reviews from critics. In July 2025, during Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft tour at Co-op Live in Manchester, she announced the concert was being filmed for a secret 3D project with Cameron.

Cameron created a new generation of 3D camera systems for the film, including technology that had never been used before — even in the Avatar films. His goal was to make audiences feel like they were actually at the show.

And it seems like he pulled it off. On Rotten Tomatoes, 93% of critics’ reviews are positive, with the consensus reading: “Directed with kinetic flair by James Cameron, Hit Me Hard and Soft doesn’t unpack Billie Eilish’s artistry so much as let her fans revel in it from multiple dimensions.” Audiences surveyed by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of “A.”

As of May 17, 2026, the film has grossed $9 million in the United States and Canada, and $16 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $25 million.

One of the film’s more intimate details that’s gone viral: Eilish takes audiences under the stage between songs and even gives them her point of view from inside her famous glowing suspended entrance cube. “Spoiler alert, I am in the cube, you just can’t see me,” Eilish said in a CBS News interview. “I can literally see everybody so well from inside this box, but they have no idea I can see them.”
